Turkey’s best-known photojournalists, Güler is a Turkish-Armenian born in 1928. He travelled to many countries and also many parts of Turkey. He also held photographic interviews with such important people as Winston Churchill, Gandhi, Alfred Hitchcock, Dali and Picasso. Despite these, the black-and-white photographs he took in Istanbul get the most credit (they have been compiled into the book “Ara Güler’s Istanbul”).
You can check out Güler’s photographs on display at Ara Cafe in Beyoğlu, a spot that he opened and sometimes still stops by. For more information have a look at this question.
