What are good yoga studios in Istanbul?

Cihangir Yoga in Fındıklı hosts an English speaking yoga community but you may find English speaking staff or yogis in some other quality yoga studios as well. Some of those are Yogasala in Nisantasi and Planet Health Club in Kurucesme, Hari Om Yoga in Besiktas and Kiziltoprak.

For a city of its size, Istanbul has relatively few yoga studios, though new outposts have been popping up recently.

The widest selection of classes – many in English – are available at Cihangir Yoga and YogaSala, each of which has multiple locations.

Cihangir Yoga.  At its two locations - Cihangir (in hipsterville Beyoğlu) and Istinye (a leafy neighborhood up the Bosphorus) - Cihangir Yoga offers classes for all levels as well as workshops, often with international guest teachers like Dechen Thurman (yup, Uma’s brother) and Chris Chavez. If you stop by their barn-like but sleek Istinye studio, leave time for an herbal tea at their organic café next door.

Yogaşala. Istanbul’s most established studio, Yogaşala has branches in Etiler, Nişantaşı and Maslak, each with airy studios, yogi tea and comfortable seating areas for chit-chat before and after class.
